Welcome to Winford Church of England Primary School

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all visitors to this website.  Winford Church of England Primary School is a rural school, situated 7 miles south-west of Bristol, within the county of North Somerset. It has a special, warm and friendly atmosphere with most of our families living in Winford and surrounding villages.

Despite the school originating from 1847, we now have a stunning 21st Century two-storey building, completed in 2011, which is linked to the original refurbished Victorian school.  A galleried library area at the heart of the school and a spacious hall allows for collective worship, drama, music, dance and gymnastics, as well as lunch provision.

We are a Church of England School, so have close links to the Church of St. Mary andSt. Peter in Winford along with other Christians in the village.  Christian values are integral to our ethos and our school vision is: “Winford School - where children Flourish”.  We aim to help children to flourish academically, spiritually, and emotionally through a  broad, balanced and exciting curriculum, filled with a variety of experiences.  This is all possible through our school community who facilitate this learning all underpinned by our 12 Christian values.  The verse that complements our vision is John 10:10 "I have come that they may have life and have it to the full."

Outside the facilities are also splendid – not only has every classroom its own dedicated outdoor learning space, but we also have large playgrounds and a multi-use games area. In addition we have a beautiful pond and wooded area. Facilities for community involvement are enhanced by the integration of Winford Pre-school into the building, along with the village Ducklings toddler group as well as a children’s centre that facilitates outreach work with parents and carers.

We hope that the information included in this website gives you a flavour of our happy school. You are very welcome to come for a visit, so please get in touch.

Yours sincerely

Nik Gardner
