Working Together to Help Every Child Flourish

At Winford Church of England Primary School, we believe that strong relationships between school and home are essential to children's happiness, wellbeing and success.

Our Christian vision, Together we Flourish, and our values of Aspire, Belong and Care remind us of the importance of listening, working together and treating one another with kindness and respect.

We welcome feedback from parents and carers because it helps us recognise what is working well, celebrate successes and identify where we can make improvements.

Whether you would like to share something positive, make a suggestion or raise a concern, we want to hear from you.

Sharing Positive Feedback and Suggestions

We love hearing about the things that children and families enjoy about Winford!

Positive feedback helps us celebrate the work of our staff and recognise the experiences that make a difference to children.

We also welcome constructive suggestions about how we can improve school life.

You can share your feedback by emailing:

office@winfordprimary.com

Please include Feedback in the subject line so that your message can be directed appropriately.

Opportunities to Have Your Say

We provide a range of opportunities for parents and carers to share their views throughout the year.

These include:

  • Parent consultation evenings – Opportunities to discuss your child's learning, progress and wellbeing.

  • Parent surveys – Helping us understand families' experiences and identify priorities for improvement.

  • SEND parent coffee mornings – Opportunities to share experiences, ask questions and discuss inclusion and support.

  • Informal conversations – We welcome discussions with teachers and school leaders.

  • School events and meetings – Opportunities to engage with school life and share ideas.

We also listen carefully to children's views through our pupil leadership groups, questionnaires and everyday conversations.

Feedback helps inform our school improvement priorities and the decisions we make.

What Should I Do if I Have a Concern?

We understand that, from time to time, parents and carers may have questions or concerns about their child's experience at school.

We want to resolve concerns as quickly and positively as possible.

We encourage families to follow these steps.

Step 1 – Speak to Your Child's Class Teacher

Your child's class teacher should usually be your first point of contact.

Teachers know the children in their class well and are often best placed to answer questions, clarify misunderstandings and resolve concerns.

You can contact your child's teacher through the usual school communication channels or ask the school office to arrange a conversation.

Please be aware that teachers are busy welcoming and settling children at the start of the school day. For anything requiring a longer discussion, an appointment is usually more appropriate.

Step 2 – Speak to a Member of the Senior Leadership Team

If you have already discussed your concern with the class teacher and feel that it has not been resolved, please contact a member of our Senior Leadership Team.

Mrs Jenny Campbell – Headteacher

Mrs Claire Tiernan – Deputy Headteacher

Appointments can be arranged through the school office.

We will listen carefully, consider the information available and work with you to identify appropriate next steps.

Step 3 – Formal Complaints Procedure

If your concern cannot be resolved informally, you can use the formal complaints procedure.

Winford is part of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP) and follows the Trust's Complaints Policy.

The policy explains how formal complaints are considered, the stages of the process and how concerns can be escalated where appropriate.

Working Together Respectfully

We know that conversations about children can sometimes be sensitive or emotional.

We are committed to listening respectfully and responding professionally, and we ask families to show the same courtesy to school staff and other members of our community.

If you have a concern involving another child or family, please contact the school directly rather than trying to resolve the matter through parent WhatsApp groups or social media.

This helps protect children's privacy, prevents misunderstandings and allows us to investigate concerns appropriately.

We recognise that some matters are confidential, and we are not able to share information about other children or families.

Safeguarding Concerns

If your concern relates to the safety or welfare of a child, please contact the school as soon as possible and ask to speak to a Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Mrs Jenny Campbell – Designated Safeguarding Lead

Mrs Claire Tiernan – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

Ms Pauline Adams - Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.

Further information is available on our Safeguarding at Winford page.
