Year 4 - Fox Class
Fox Class – Year 4
Growing in Confidence, Independence and a Love of Learning!
Welcome to Fox Class! Our class teacher is Miss Stephens and other adults in our class include Miss Edwards, Miss Lola, Mrs Standing and Miss Bridges.
Year 4 is an exciting year as children build on their Key Stage 2 learning, develop greater independence and take on new challenges.
In Fox Class, we encourage children to be curious, aim high, work together and take pride in their achievements.
Our school values of Aspire, Belong and Care help us create a happy, supportive classroom where everyone feels valued and ready to learn.
Life in Fox Class
Every day brings new opportunities to learn, explore and have fun!
Children enjoy practical activities, creative experiences, outdoor learning and opportunities to develop their independence and responsibility.
We encourage children to build positive friendships, develop resilience, become more confident problem-solvers and take an active role in their learning.
Our Learning
In Year 4, children continue to strengthen their reading, writing and mathematics skills while exploring a broad and exciting curriculum.
We focus on developing confident and thoughtful readers, encouraging children to become increasingly independent writers and deepening their mathematical understanding.
An important focus in Year 4 is developing quick and accurate recall of multiplication tables up to 12 × 12, helping children build confidence and fluency in mathematics.
You can find more information about the subjects we teach and the learning covered throughout the year on our Curriculum pages.
Supporting Learning at Home
There are lots of simple ways to help your child flourish:
-
Read regularly – Encourage independent reading and talk about the characters, events and ideas in books.
-
Practise spelling – Help your child learn spelling patterns and apply them in their writing.
-
Learn times tables – Practise multiplication and division facts up to 12 × 12 through games, songs and quick challenges. (We use TTRS to practise)
-
Encourage writing – Give your child opportunities to write stories, letters, diaries or descriptions.
-
Build independence – Encourage your child to organise their belongings, manage routines and take responsibility for their learning.
-
Celebrate effort – Praise perseverance, curiosity and a willingness to tackle new challenges.
