Achievement and Progress at Winford

Together we Flourish | Aspire • Belong • Care

At Winford Church of England Primary School, we believe that every child has the potential to achieve, grow and flourish.

Our value of Aspire reflects our commitment to high expectations, ambitious teaching and helping every child achieve their personal best.

We are proud of our pupils' achievements and recognise that success is about more than test results. Alongside academic attainment, we celebrate children's confidence, resilience, creativity, personal development and the progress they make throughout their time at Winford.

We are committed to continually improving our teaching and curriculum so that every child receives the support and challenge they need to succeed.

Our 2026 Results

Early Years Foundation Stage – Reception

86% of children achieved a Good Level of Development (GLD) at the end of Reception.

This means that children achieved the expected level across the key areas of learning used to assess school readiness.

Year 1 Phonics Screening Check

92% of Year 1 pupils met the expected standard in the Phonics Screening Check.

This reflects the importance we place on developing strong early reading skills and helping children become confident, enthusiastic readers.

Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check

Our Year 4 pupils achieved an average score of 23.4 out of 25 in the Multiplication Tables Check.

62% of pupils achieved full marks (25/25).

Secure multiplication knowledge provides an important foundation for mathematical fluency, confidence and future learning.

Key Stage 2 Results – 2026

At the end of Year 6, children are assessed in reading, writing, mathematics and grammar, punctuation and spelling.

The table below shows the percentage of pupils achieving the expected standard in 2026, alongside the national figures.

We also recognise the importance of continuing to improve outcomes in writing and ensuring that more pupils achieve the expected standard across reading, writing and mathematics combined.

Our Commitment to Continued Improvement

We regularly review pupil outcomes and use assessment information to strengthen teaching, identify areas for development and ensure that children receive the support they need.

Our ongoing priorities include:

  • Developing confident, fluent readers and writers.

  • Strengthening mathematical understanding, fluency and reasoning.

  • Providing appropriate challenge for pupils who are ready to achieve at greater depth.

  • Identifying and addressing gaps in learning through high-quality teaching and targeted support.

  • Ensuring that pupils with additional needs are supported to make meaningful progress.

Our school values of Aspire, Belong and Care underpin this work. We have high expectations for every child, recognise individual strengths and needs, and provide a supportive environment in which children can develop confidence and succeed.
