We particularly encourage visits during the school day, when you can experience the wonderful atmosphere of our busy school community.

Open Days for September 2027

We are holding a number of opportunities for families to visit us throughout the autumn term.

Please see our current open-day dates at the bottom of this page and phone or email to book at visit.

If you are unable to attend one of our planned sessions, please contact the school office. We will be happy to arrange an alternative visit.

Starting School – A Happy Beginning

Starting school is a big milestone for children and their families. At Winford, we work closely with parents and carers to make this transition as positive and reassuring as possible.

Our Reception children join Hedgehog Class, where they are welcomed into a nurturing, stimulating environment full of opportunities to explore, discover, play and learn.

We know that every child is unique. Some children arrive feeling confident and excited, while others need a little more time and reassurance. Our experienced staff take time to get to know each child and help them develop a sense of belonging.

Once school places have been allocated, we will share information about our transition arrangements, including opportunities for children and families to become familiar with their new school.

We want every child to feel that Winford is somewhere they belong.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

At Winford, learning happens everywhere! Children in our woodland

Alongside exciting classroom experiences, our children benefit from outdoor learning, woodland activities, creative opportunities, physical education and practical experiences that develop confidence, curiosity, independence and teamwork.

We believe that children flourish when they feel connected to their learning, their friends and the world around them.

Applying for a Place

Applications for Reception places are made through your local authority.

For children starting school in September 2027, the national application deadline is 15 January 2027.

Families living in North Somerset can find information and apply through the North Somerset Council website.
