Our Winford Houses

Four Houses, One School Family!

At Winford Church of England Primary School, every child belongs to one of our four school houses.

Our house system helps children develop friendships, teamwork and a sense of belonging across the school. It encourages children to celebrate one another's achievements, take on new challenges and contribute positively to our school community.

Each house has its own colour, animal and identity, but we are all united by our Christian vision, Together we Flourish, and our school values of Aspire, Belong and Care.

Meet Our Four Houses

Blaze – Red House

The Phoenix

Blaze represents courage, determination and the confidence to rise to new challenges.

Just like the phoenix, members of Blaze are encouraged to show resilience, keep trying when things become difficult and believe in their ability to succeed.

Burn bright in faith

Aqua – Blue House

The Dolphin

Aqua represents friendship, cooperation and looking after one another.

Just like dolphins working together, members of Aqua are encouraged to support their teammates, communicate positively and celebrate everyone's contributions.

Flow with living water

Terra – Green House

The Stag

Terra represents strength, resilience and personal growth.

Just like the stag, members of Terra are encouraged to stand confidently, face challenges with determination and continue growing as learners and individuals.

Stand firm and grow strong

Spirit – Yellow House

The Eagle

Spirit represents ambition, confidence and the determination to achieve great things.

Just like the eagle soaring high, members of Spirit are encouraged to believe in themselves, aim high and encourage others to achieve their best.

Lifted by the spirit, we rise

How Our House System Works

Our houses bring children together from different year groups, helping to build friendships and strengthen our whole-school community.

Throughout the year, children have opportunities to represent their houses, work together and celebrate their achievements.

These may include:

  • Sports Day and sporting events – Encouraging teamwork, participation and a positive sporting attitude.

  • House competitions and challenges – Opportunities to work together, develop new skills and enjoy friendly competition.

  • Celebrating achievements – Recognising effort, perseverance, kindness and positive contributions.

  • Whole-school activities – Bringing children from different classes together to support their houses.

We encourage children to take pride in their house while remembering that supporting others, showing respect and taking part are just as important as winning.

Our House Captains

Our House Captains are pupil leaders who help represent and encourage their houses.

They act as positive role models, promote teamwork and enthusiasm, and help younger pupils feel included.

Being a House Captain is an opportunity to develop confidence, responsibility and leadership skills while making a positive contribution to school life.

Living Our School Values

Our house system is another way we bring our school values to life.

Aspire – We challenge ourselves, aim high and celebrate effort and achievement.

Belong – We build friendships, work as a team and make sure everyone feels included.

Care – We encourage one another, celebrate others' successes and show kindness and good sportsmanship.

Although we belong to four different houses, we are all part of one Winford family.

Together we Flourish

Four Houses. One School. Everyone Belongs.
