About Us

Together we Flourish

Aspire • Belong • Care

Welcome to Winford Church of England Primary School, a small, friendly village school where children are known, valued and encouraged to flourish.

Set in the heart of the beautiful Chew Valley, we are proud of our warm, welcoming atmosphere and the strong relationships we build with children, families and our wider community.

Our Christian vision, Together we Flourish, is inspired by the words of Jesus:

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” — John 10:10

We believe that every child is unique and full of potential. Our aim is to provide an education that helps children flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually, developing the confidence, knowledge and character they need for the future.

Our three school values are at the heart of everything we do:

Aspire – We encourage children to aim high, embrace challenges and be the very best they can be.

Belong – We create a welcoming, inclusive community where everyone feels safe, valued and accepted.

Care – We teach children to show kindness, compassion and respect for themselves, others and the world around them.

Learning, Growing and Flourishing Together

At Winford, we believe that learning should be exciting, purposeful and full of opportunities.

We provide an ambitious and engaging curriculum, with high expectations for all children. We want our pupils to become curious, confident and independent learners who are willing to have a go, persevere when things are difficult and take pride in their achievements.

Our wonderful outdoor spaces are an important part of school life. From Forest Activities in our woodland area to gardening, creative learning, sport and outdoor play, we make the most of opportunities for children to explore, discover, collaborate and develop new skills.

We recognise that children flourish in different ways and at different times. Our nurturing approach, strong pastoral support and commitment to inclusion help us respond to individual needs and ensure that every child has opportunities to succeed.

A Community Where Everyone Belongs

Relationships are at the heart of Winford.

We want every child to feel happy, safe and proud to be part of our school. We encourage children to develop friendships, care for one another and take an active role in school life through pupil leadership, our house system, collective worship and community activities.

As a Church of England school, our Christian foundation shapes our ethos and daily life. We have close links with our local church and warmly welcome families of all faiths and none.

We are proud to be part of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership and value the opportunities this provides for collaboration, professional development and strengthening the education we offer.
