Extra-Curricular Activities & Music Tuition
Opportunities to Discover, Explore and Flourish
At Winford Church of England Primary School, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our extra-curricular activities give children opportunities to discover new interests, develop talents, build friendships and grow in confidence.
Whether children enjoy sport, music, creativity or trying something completely new, we want them to have opportunities to participate, develop their skills and have fun.
Our school values of Aspire, Belong and Care are at the heart of our extra-curricular offer. We encourage children to challenge themselves, support one another and celebrate their achievements.
Sports Clubs with Shine
We are delighted to work with Shine, who provide the majority of our extra-curricular sports clubs.
Shine offers a range of engaging activities designed to help children stay active, learn new skills, develop teamwork and enjoy sport in a positive and supportive environment.
The clubs available may vary throughout the school year, depending on the term, age groups and level of interest.
-
Football and other team sports
-
Multi-sports and games
-
Dance and movement
-
Fitness, coordination and physical challenges
Our aim is to provide opportunities for children of different ages, abilities and interests to enjoy being active, whether they are trying a sport for the first time or developing existing skills.
Booking Sports Clubs
Details of the clubs available, including age groups, dates, times and booking arrangements, are shared with parents and carers each term.
Most Shine sports clubs are booked directly through Shine.
Please refer to the latest club information shared through ClassDojo for current availability and booking arrangements.
Music Tuition
Music is an important part of life at Winford. Alongside our music curriculum, we offer children opportunities to develop their musical interests through specialist providers.
West of England Music and Arts (WEMA)
We work with West of England Music and Arts (WEMA) to provide specialist instrumental tuition.
These lessons give children the opportunity to learn an instrument, develop musical knowledge and skills, and experience the enjoyment of making music.
Learning an instrument can help children develop concentration, confidence, creativity, perseverance and a sense of achievement.
The instruments available and lesson arrangements may vary according to demand and tutor availability.

Parents and carers can also contact the school office for information about the tuition currently available at Winford.
Rocksteady Music School
We also work with Rocksteady Music School, offering children an exciting opportunity to experience playing in their very own rock band!
Rocksteady takes a fun, practical approach to music education. Children learn to play instruments such as electric guitar, keyboard, drums and vocals while working together as part of a small band.
No previous musical experience is needed, and children can begin developing their musical skills from their very first lesson.
Rocksteady sessions help children to:
-
Develop confidence and self-expression.
-
Learn musical skills through practical experience.
-
Build teamwork, communication and listening skills.
-
Develop resilience and perseverance.
-
Experience the excitement of performing with others.
Children work towards performances where they can share their achievements and celebrate their progress.
Rocksteady lessons take place during the school day, with bookings and payments arranged directly through Rocksteady.

Making Clubs Inclusive
At Winford, we want all children to feel welcome and able to take part in school life.
We recognise that children have different interests, strengths and needs. We work with families and club providers to consider reasonable adjustments and support children in accessing activities wherever possible.
If your child has additional needs or you would like to discuss their participation in a club, please contact the school office.
Keeping Up to Date
Information about current clubs, booking arrangements and any associated charges is shared with parents and carers through ClassDojo and school communications.
