Vision and Values
Together we Flourish
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” — John 10:10
At Winford Church of England Primary School, our vision is simple but powerful: Together we Flourish.
We believe that every child is unique, precious and full of potential. Rooted in our Christian foundation, we aim to create a school community where everyone is known, valued, nurtured and encouraged to become the very best they can be.
Flourishing means more than academic achievement. It means growing in confidence, character, knowledge, relationships and faith. We want every child to flourish academically, socially, emotionally, personally and spiritually, developing the skills, values and sense of purpose to live life in all its fullness.
We believe that children flourish when they experience both high expectations and high levels of support, when they feel a genuine sense of belonging and when they learn to care for themselves, others and the world around them.
Our three school values — Aspire, Belong and Care — bring our vision to life every day.

Our School Values
ASPIRE
Be the very best you can be.
We encourage everyone to aim high, embrace challenges and develop a love of learning.
We believe that every child has gifts, talents and potential to discover. Through encouragement, perseverance and high expectations, we help children develop the confidence and resilience to grow, learn, try new things and achieve their best.
At Winford, we Aspire when we:
-
Try our best and take pride in our learning.
-
Show curiosity, courage and a willingness to try.
-
Keep going when things are difficult.
-
Celebrate progress, effort and achievement.
-
Encourage others to succeed.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart.” — Colossians 3:23
BELONG
Everyone is welcomed, valued and included.
We believe that everyone should know: There is a place for me here.
Our school is a community where relationships matter, differences are celebrated and every individual is treated with dignity and respect.
We want children, staff and families to feel connected, supported and proud to be part of Winford. We recognise that each person brings something special to our school, and that we are stronger when we learn, grow and work together.
At Winford, we Belong when we:
-
Welcome others and include everyone.
-
Celebrate our differences and individual strengths.
-
Listen to and respect one another.
-
Build friendships and positive relationships.
-
Help everyone feel safe, accepted and valued.
“So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” — Romans 12:5
CARE
Care for ourselves, others and the world around us.
We believe that kindness, compassion and responsibility are at the heart of a flourishing community.
We encourage children to notice the needs of others, act with empathy and make a positive difference through their words and actions.
Our Christian foundation reminds us that love is something we show through what we do. We want our children to grow into thoughtful, responsible individuals who care for their own wellbeing, support others and respect the world we share.
At Winford, we Care when we:
-
Show kindness, compassion and understanding.
-
Look after our own wellbeing and support others.
-
Help someone who is struggling or needs a friend.
-
Take responsibility for our actions and put things right.
-
Care for our school, community and environment.
“Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” — John 13:34
Our Vision in Action
Our vision and values are not simply words displayed around our school. They shape our decisions, our relationships, our curriculum and the experiences we provide for children.
We Aspire through learning.
We offer an ambitious, engaging curriculum that encourages curiosity, creativity and a love of learning. We have high expectations for all pupils and provide the support and challenge they need to succeed.
Our rich learning opportunities, including outdoor learning, Forest Activities, gardening, music, sport and creative experiences, help children discover their strengths, develop new skills and grow in confidence.
We Belong through relationships.
Positive relationships are at the heart of Winford. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive school where children feel secure, listened to and understood.
Through our house system, pupil leadership opportunities, collective worship and shared experiences, children learn that they are valued members of a community and that their voices and contributions matter.
We Care through our actions.
We teach children to show compassion, respect and responsibility in the way they treat others and the world around them.
Our pastoral support, wellbeing provision, environmental projects, charitable activities and community links provide meaningful opportunities for children to put their values into practice.
Our school rules — Ready, Respectful, Safe — support our values and help everyone understand how we contribute to a happy, safe and flourishing school.
Our Christian Foundation
Our vision, Together we Flourish, is inspired by the words of Jesus in John's Gospel:
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” — John 10:10
For us, this means that education is about far more than academic success. It is about helping every child grow into the person they have the potential to become.
Jesus' promise of life in all its fullness inspires us to create a community where people are loved, included, encouraged and supported. It reminds us of the importance of hope, forgiveness, compassion and the responsibility we have to care for one another.
As a Church of England school, our Christian vision provides the foundation for our ethos and values. We welcome children and families of all faiths and none, recognising and celebrating the richness that each person brings to our school community.
Our vision is lived through our curriculum, collective worship, relationships and the choices we make each day.
Spirituality at Winford
“Spirituality is finding moments of awe, wonder, reflection and connection that help us grow in faith, hope and love.”
At Winford, we believe that spiritual development is an important part of helping children flourish.
We provide opportunities for children to ask big questions, appreciate the beauty of the world, reflect on their experiences and consider their relationships with themselves, others, the world and God.
Our approach to spirituality uses Windows, Mirrors and Doors.
Windows – Looking Out
We encourage children to notice the world around them, experience awe and wonder, and explore questions about life, faith and the world.
Mirrors – Looking In
We provide opportunities for stillness, reflection and thinking about our feelings, beliefs, experiences and choices.
Doors – Stepping Out
We encourage children to respond to what they have discovered through kindness, compassion, responsibility and positive action.
Spiritual development is woven throughout school life, including collective worship, our curriculum, outdoor learning, reflection and everyday experiences.
We believe that these opportunities help children develop a deeper understanding of themselves, others and the world around them.

Living Our Vision Together
Our vision is for everyone in our school community — children, staff, families, governors and the wider community.
We believe that flourishing is something we achieve together.
We work in partnership with families, our local church and our wider community to create opportunities for children to learn, contribute, serve and grow.
We encourage every child to recognise that they have something valuable to offer and that their actions can make a difference to others.
Together we Aspire.
Together we Belong.
Together we Care.
Together we Flourish.
